Rohingya family arrested from Mao gate

Senapati district police arrested a Rohingya family from Mao gate, under Senapati PS, yesterday.
The members of the arrested Rohingya family were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Senapati and remanded to six days police custody till June 3.The arrested family members are identified as Md Abdullah, his wife Bibi Ayesha and a baby boy.
According to a reliable information, Md Abdullah revealed during preliminary interrogation that he is Rohingya Muslim from Myanmar and he disclosed that after the Rohingya crisis, his family fled to Bangladesh.
They later went to a refugee camp at Hyderabad and then to Kolkata.
During their stay in Kolkata, he was told by one of his friends that Manipur is a place where he can make a living and many people like him have journeyed to Manipur for the same and have settled there.
So he decided to go to Manipur to earn a living along with his family.
The family possessed a certificate provided by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) signed by one Ragini as UNHCR, Chief of Mission.
The date of issue of the certificate as mentioned in the certificate is January 23, which is valid upto July 22 but it is yet uncertain if the certificate is fake or genuine.
The certificate mentions that the family applied to the office of UNHCR, New Delhi, for refugee status and that the application is under consideration.
It also mentions that any assistance provided to them will be highly appreciated.
It may be mentioned that on May 24, Senapati district police prevented 38 illegal immigrants without proper ID proofs from entering the State and sent them back from Mao gate.
