Search operations continue

District police of Imphal East and Imphal West today further tightened security ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's State visit by conducting cordon and search operations at different places.
Under the supervision of Singhajit, Additional SP (Operations), Imphal East and M Roni, DSP Commando Imphal East, a team of Imphal East district police led by P Achouba, Officer-in-Charge of Imphal East commando conducted a search operation some 200 meter away from the Manipur Sangai Festival venue where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the closing function of the 10-day festival on November 30 .
The police team cordoned the areas from Palace gate to Checkon traffic point and conducted the search operation.
All the persons, who are at the age group of 18 to 50 years, were called out from their respective houses and asked them to stand from Palace gate to Checkon road.
The police team later verified them one by one.
After verification, eight persons who could not produce identity proof documents were detained and handed over to Porompat police for further verification.
On the other hand, under the supervision of K Meghachandra, Additional SP (Operations) Imphal West, a team of district police led by Imphal west commando OC Sanjoy conducted a search operation at Changangei Maning Leikai under Lamphel police station today morning.
After verification, five persons including one bailout person who could not show proper identity proof documents were detained by the police team and handed over to Lamphel police station for further verification.
