Imphal, September 28 2015:
CPI Mani-pur State Committee, its Kumbi local council and the Irabot Celebration Committee today observed the 119th birth anni-versary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Kumbi Terakha today although the exact birth anni-versary falls on September 30 .
CPI State secretary Dr M Nara, Irabot Celebration Committee chairman N Mangi, other party leaders, members of Gram Panchayats and Municipalities attended the function as presidium members.
Carrying a portrait of Lamyanba Irabot, a large number of people also took out a protest rally after which floral tributes were paid to the late leader.
Speaking at the gathering, Dr Nara said that the function was organised not to please the departed soul of the late leader but to study the ideals and visions of Lamyanba Irabot in order to emancipate the oppressed masses.
The present situation of Manipur which is marked by divisions and distrust among different communities was something abhorred by Irabot.
It is a common knowledge that formation of ethno-exclusive Nation is next to impossible in the contemporary world, Dr Nara asserted.
He said that the main function of the month long commemorative event would be held at Konung Lampak on September 30 .
"We must recall Lamyanba Irabot's commitment to protect the integrity of Manipur at all costs under any circumstances, and act accordingly", Dr Nara exhorted.
Just as Irabot organised a public meeting at MDU Hall on November 30, 1947 with the main agenda of promoting a united Manipur, CPI would organise a similar meeting of all communities on November 30 this year at MDU Hall.
The meeting would adopt a resolution to protect the integrity of Manipur at all costs, Dr Nara said.
