Thoubal, December 27 2018:
Alleging suspicion over the death of a pregnant woman identified as Joypremi alias Naocha (25) Tuesday, womenfolk of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Tomjingmakhong and family members stormed the Thoubal SP office demanding the mortal remains of the deceased and thorough investigation.
Joypremi, w/o Binison Yumnam of Haokha Mamang Leikai, allegedly hung to death Tuesday at Haokha Mamang Leikai, 'according to her husband's family' .
On the other hand, mother of the deceased, Sorojini Khumanthem claimed that Naocha allegedly called her repeatedly Tuesday saying she was being 'tortured by her in-laws' and pleaded to come and 'save her'.
She continued that at around 4 pm, Naocha's father-in-law came and told the family that Naocha was rushed to Thoubal District Hospital after she allegedly lost consciousness.
However, when the family members rushed to the hospital, Naocha was found dead, Sorojini claimed adding that the allegation that Naocha had hung herself is false.
Members of Women Action for Development led by its secretary Sobita Mangsatabam too met the family members at the gate of Thoubal SP office.
Speaking to media persons, Sobita Mangsatabam urged the authorities concerned and the State Government to look into the matter and launch an investigation at the earliest 'as the death is suspicious' .
Appealing a forensic investigation and proper probe to ascertain what caused the death, Sobita said that the matter should not be taken lightly by the Government.
