Imphal, April 27 2016:
Deploring the alleged non-availability of suitable parking sites in Imphal, the Tiddim Line Magic & Winger Joint Co-ordinating Committee, Bishnupur has today warned of imposing intense form of agitation including blockades if the demand for suitable parking sites is not met at the earliest.
Advisor of the Joint Co-ordinating Committee, Lourembam Surjit informed this to media persons today during a sit-in-protest organised at Imoinu Keithel, Keinou of Bishnupur district.
Maintaining that the Committee has repeatedly complained to the Transport Department about the inconveniences faced by the Tata Magics and Tata Wingers service providers due to the absence of proper parking in Imphal, Surjit lamented the Transport Department keeps ignoring their demand for arranging a suitable parking space for them.
Further saying that the vehicles were evicted from their earlier parking at Waheng Leikai to make space for vehicles plying in other routes, Surjit said the new parking allotted to them at Sagolband Salam Leikai area could not be easily accessed by passengers.
This affects the drivers' earning, Surjit added.
Continuing that the Tiddim Line Tata Magic & Winger Joint Co-ordinating Committee is carrying out a two days cease work strike on April 27 and April 28 by staging sit-in-protest, he informed that the Committee will impose indefinite bandh along the Tiddim line from 4 am of April 28 if the department concerned fails to response to their demand positively.
He also appealed to all the diesel autos, Tata magics, Tata Wingers and buses to stop plying on the road during the indefinite bandh and warned them of dire consequence if the appeal goes unheeded.
Surjit also said that the Committee would carry out intense forms of agitation with the help of civil society organisations, students' unions and public in the days to come.
