Farmers' interaction programme

A one day farmers' interaction programme on "Interactive meet on medicinal plants" was organised jointly by Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation and Manipur State Medicinal Plants Board at State Guest House, Sanjenthong.
Dr A Guneshwor, member secretary of Manipur State Medicinal Plants Board, K Jogeshchandra, Officer-in-charge, MIDH, Horticulture & Soil Conservation and P Debakanta, president, All Manipur Trained Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Promoter Constituent, Imphal as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Dr A Guneshwor said that numerous medicinal plants are available both in the hills and valley areas of the State.
However, many of us are not familiar with their medicinal uses and benefits.
As such, it is necessary for us to be aware of these plants and promote them not only in the State.
He added, "Our forefathers, when suffering from various ailments, were mostly treated with medicinal plants and herbs.
This shows that there are abundance of medicinal in the State" .
K Jogeshchandra said that people across the world have started opting Ayush medicines.
He added that people of Manipur can collectively promote locally available medicinal plants and herbs which in turn can also provide employment opportunities to many.
