Speaking on the occasion, project engineer of NIELIT Imphal, S Jugeshor said that lack of awareness among various stakeholders about the ill-effects of the end-of-life products (e-waste) is a major concern of the country.
He emphasised on the need for initiating sustained mechanism to create awareness in order to reduce the adverse impact on environment and health due to these e-waste used in unorganised sector.
Programme coordinator of APEHEW, ISRD Imphal, Naobi Wangkheirakpam asserted that recycling of e-waste will not only help in controlling massive use of the earth's resources but will also help in saving the environment.
"Like the Japanese who use e-waste for productive purposes we can also recycle the e-waste and use it in different productive ways as now we understand that e-waste
is no more a waste but a resource", Naobi added.
