Dikho lauds villagers' stand to share water with neighbouring villages

PHE Minister L Dikho inaugurated Mapao Khullen water supply scheme which was constructed with a budget of Rs 19.84 lakh, under Kangpokpi Public Health Engineering Division, at Mapao Khullen Water Supply Treatment Plant, Kangpokpi district today.
Public Health Engineering Department Additional Chief Engineer L Swamikanta attended the inaugural ceremony as president while Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi Dr Rangitabah Waikhom and Mapao Khulkii Chairman Mayonpam attended as guests of honour.
Executive Engineer of Kangpokpi PHE Division RK Deben, Assistant Engineers, SOs, Mapao Khullen villagers also took part in the ceremony.
Speaking as the chief guest, L Dikho appealed the villagers to utilize the water supply scheme as their own property.
Stating that the water supply scheme will be more than sufficient for the villagers of Mapao Khullen, the Minister lauded the villagers and encouraged their support to share and supply water to the neighbouring villages as well.
He maintained that the water supply scheme is one of the most successfully inaugurated scheme across Kangpokpi district till date.
Alleging that the previous Government neglected to put its focus on the hill districts of the State, Dikho claimed that the present Government and its Minister and officials concerned have reached out to the hilly areas and have initiated several developmental projects/schemes.
Peace will not prevail when there is no development, he said while adding that harmony and peace have gradually set in with the Government taking up many developmental work in the State.
Minister Dikho further conveyed that clean lifestyle and peaceful coexistence of the villagers of Mapao Khullen makes the place beautiful and worth experiencing.
PHE Department Additional Chief Engineer L Swamikanta informed that Mapao Khullen Water Treatment Plant was constructed by M/S Exotic Contractor Private Limited with a capacity of 0.03 MLD and will serve a total of 586 individuals.
Officials of Kangpokpi PHE Division along with Mapao Khullen villagers will form a Village Water Sanitation Committee wherein the water supply will be handed over, he added.
