State museum celebrates 47th foundation day

Manipur State Museum celebrated its 47th foundation day at its auditorium today.
The celebration was attended by Art and Culture Commissioner K Radhakumar and Art and Culture Director Dr K Sushila as chief guest and president respectively.
A guide book on art gallery was released during the celebration.
Speaking at the occasion Radhakumar said many portions of the State Museum building have leaky roofs.
There
are lots of things to be done for the development of the Museum.
Lack of manpower, however, is holding back most of the developmental works for the museum, he added.
He further urged the people to inform or donate any piece of material they come across or posses, that is associated with the history of Manipur, to the museum.
The Art and Culture Commissioner also stressed on the need to establish museums in all the districts of the State.
He opined that erecting museums in the farthest comers of the State will help the people better understand the history of the land.
Art and Culture Director Dr K Sushila lauded the Museum staff for their research and hard work that went into the building of the museum.
A temporary exhibition was also held as part of the celebration.
