Many condole demise of eminent Muslim woman leader, Ema Sitara Begum

Eminent Muslim women leader, Aribam Sitara Begum, popularly known as 'Ema Sitara Begum' passed away today morning at her residence at Kshetrigao Chandam Leikai.
She was 62.Condolences have poured in from all spheres on the sudden demise of this prominent women leader and a social activist who had made umpteen contributions in the significant issues of the State.
An emergency meeting of the Central Executive Committee of All Manipur Muslims (Meitei-Pangal) Welfare Association, Imphal was held today at its office at Hatta Manaingkhol with Janab AR Khan, IAS (Retd) in the chair, to condole the sudden demise of Ema Sitara Begum.
Abdus Salam, Secretary General, AMPWA briefly read out the life sketch of Ema Sitara Begum and her contribution in the field of women's education and welfare of Manipuri women.
Her active involvement and contributions in the establishment of many pioneer women civil society organisations namely, Kangleipak Muslim Chanura Development Organisation (1994), All Manipur Muslim Women Development Association (1995) to fight the injustice, marginalisation and violence meted to Muslim women and their all round development was remembered and highlighted in the meeting, said a press release by AMPWA.
AR Khan, president AMPWA said that 'Ema Sitara was a committed social activist who relentlessly endeavoured to focus her activities in the socio-economic development of Manipuri women in general and Muslim women residing in Manipur, Assam and other NE States in particular.
Her social works among these Manipuri Muslim women in the NE region was widely appreciated by the public in.
She also worked in close association with pioneer CSOs like AMUCO, UCM, AMPWA and other leading Muslim organisations, Meira Paibis etc in protecting the unity and integrity of the State of Manipur.
The members expressed deep and profound sorrow on the loss of a dedicated women social activist and a courageous community leader and maintained that her demise has created a big vacuum.
The members also shared the grief and loss of the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
All Manipur Muslim Organisations Co-ordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) too mourned the untimely demise of Ema Sitara Begum and recalled her as a 'Visionary leader' who made dedicated efforts for the upliftment of the society particularly for the Muslim community.
Her demise will leave an irreparable void for the Muslims, said a statement by AMMOCOC.
Members of Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) expressed profound sorrow on the sudden demise of Ema Sitara Begum who was the founder member of AMKIL.
The members observed two minute silence in the honour of the departed soul and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Members of component bodies of Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Imphal East; Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Nupi Lup; Apunba Nupi Lup, Bishnupur; Thoubal Ima and Manipur Chanura Leishem Marup too paid homage to the departed soul.
Condoling the demise of Ema Sitara Begum, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) expressed deep sorrow and shared the pain and loss of the bereaved family.
The contributions of Ema Sitara Begum in major issues of the State such as ILPS, prevention of drugs and alcohol, AFSPA, integrity issues of the State and so on were hailed by CADA.
All India Tanzeem-E-Insaaf and social activist Bm Yaima too condoled the demise of Ema Sitara Begum.
