CCpur cops bust brown sugar factory

CCpur, February 22 2021:
In a major breakthrough, Churachand-pur district police busted a factory used for manufacturing illicit brown sugar at T Bethlehem village under Tuibong sub division with hordes of appliances and substances used in the factory along with Rs 1 lakh in cash.
Police sources stated that the raid was a culmination of their intense surveillance for about one month.
"The raid was a part of the State Govt's efforts on 'War on Drugs" campaign Churachandpur district SP Ms Amrita Sinha said, reports the DIO of Churachandpur in a statement.
The police team led by David Kilong, SDPO Thanlon conducted the raid under the guidance of Additional SP (LO) and Additional SP (Ops) and under the overall supervision of SP, it added.

The SDC of Churachandpur district, Jangminlen Lupho also accompanied the police team during the raid in his capacity as an executive magistrate.
Three individuals identified as Mangthang Lupheng, (42) S/o Jamsei of P Haijang village under Saikul sub-division and presently residing at T Bethlehem village; Seiminthang Lupheng (38) S/o (L) Paokhosei of M Semol village and Lalminsang Ralte, (18) s/o Sena of Lhangnom village in Jiribam and currently residing at T Bethlehem village in Churachandpur were taken into custody by the police.
Several items used for manufacturing and processing the illicit brown sugar including Ammonium Chloride, Di-Ammomium Phosphate, Lime and 5.3 kg of Opium, besides other items were also seized during the raid.
Later, a case under ND&PS Act has been registered for further investigation.
Meanwhile, another combined team of the district police, NAB, 1st IRB, Forest Department and 25 AR, led by SDPO Churachand-pur, Bijoykumar Singh, and OC SKT Inspector, Elvy Tunglut destroyed illicit poppy plantation of about 30 acres at Zalenkot under Sangaikot subdivision.
