Last rites of Y Sanjit carried out

The last rites of deceased rifleman, 4th IRB, Yumnam Sanjit Singh was carried out today at his residence in Tendongyan Maning Leikai after the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Yumnam Sanjit came to an agreement with the Government, said a press note issued by the JAC.
It may be noted that Yumnam Sanjit was admitted at Raj Medicity on the night of December 5 around 9:30 pm on the pretext that he suffered injuries during a minor fall.
Subsequently he passed away around 11:30 pm on December 10.Yumnam Sanjit was one of the security escorts assigned to MLA Yamthong Haokip, Saikul.
The JAC formed in this regard had launched agitations with the demand of finding the truth surrounding his suspicious death.
However, with the help of Education Minister S Rajen, MLA Lamshang AC a meeting was conducted between the family members of the deceased and Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Imphal West SP, SDPO Lamshang and the JAC, wherein the CM assured to provide the deceased's wife with an appropriate Government job.
Further, the CM also gave assurance of providing aid to the mother and sister of Y Sanjit and vowed to bring the personnel involved in the death of Yumnam Sanjit to the JAC where appropriate punishment would be meted out to them.
Upon receiving these assurances the JAC suspended the bandh along NH-2 and carried out the last rites of the deceased, added the press note.
