Court complex stormed

Angry family members and members of the Fact Finding Committee against the killing of Sagolshem (n) Longjam (o) Mirnalini Devi, stormed Cheirap Court complex today and tried to attack the husband and mother in-law of the deceased woman, while they were brought to the Court .
Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West Court, on the other hand, remanded the husband and the mother in-law to judicial custody till December 29 .
From noon onward, members of the Fact Finding Committee and the family members of the deceased were seen gathering at Cheirap Court complex after getting information that both the husband, Longjam Rabichandra alias Nando (24) s/o L Kulla and the mother in-law, Longjam Sanahanbi alias Ngaisamuai Paite (45) w/o L Kulla of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Lierak, will be produced before the Court from the custody of Imphal police station .
A team of Imphal West police led by Additional SP L Priyadarshini arrived at the Court complex and pushed back the crowd outside the Court complex to prevent any kind of unwanted incident from happening .
The two accused were brought to Cheirap Court complex in a prisoner van, under heavy security measures by a police team led by SDPO, Imphal, A Ghanashyam Sharma .
When they reached the Court complex, a large number of angry members of the Fact Finding Committee as well as the family members of the deceased attacked the prisoner van and tried to storm the Court complex .
A confrontation also broke out between the angry people and the police after which the police closed the main entrance gate of the Court thus preventing the angry crowd from entering .
Both the accused were produced before the Court with a prayer for judicial custody remand till December 29 .
The police prayer submitted before the Court mentioned that the father of the victim lodged a complaint at Imphal police station stating that on December 10, one of the husband's family members informed him over the telephone that his daughter, Mirnalini, was found dead at around 10.48 pm .
The complaint mentioned that after arriving at the hospital and witnessing the victim's appearance and her body, they began to suspect that the victim might not have committed suicide and the husband and mother in-law might have murdered Mirnalini .
Hence, OC Imphal police station lodged a U/D case and during the course of the investigation, the husband and the mother in-law were arrested on December 13 and produced before the CJM Imphal West the same day .
They were then remanded into five days police custody .
The Court went through the case dairy and satisfied with the prayer of the police IO, remanded both the husband of the deceased and the mother in-law to judicial custody remand at Sajiwa Jail and Manipur Central Jail respectively, till December 29 .
Angry locals, who had gathered outside the Court complex, tried to stop the prisoner van while the accused were being taken away from the Court and pelted stones at the van .
However, no one was injured in the incident today.
