Second phase of Zero Garbage Campaign to begin

Although the first phase of Zero Garbage Campaign started from August 12, last year, only about 20 percent of the total sanctioned amount have been utilized so far.
In the meantime, IMC is planning to begin the second phase of the campaign from January 20. The Zero Garbage Campaign was introduced in the seven Assembly segments of the Imphal Municipal Council last year.
The campaign has achieved around 40 percent of its target goal in the past months.
People of the area are also giving good cooperation to the IMC in the campaign.
Five private agencies are collecting garbage from the areas under the scheme.
Report says that IMC may increase number of private agencies indulging in the campaign.
Awareness programmes were also organised in various localities to create awareness about the campaign.
According to a reliable source, IMC will not be organizing awareness programme in the second phase.
Instead it will spread awareness through print and electronic media to the people.
The campaign of IMC will help Imphal City to become a clean and healthy city in due course of time.
Awareness and cooperation of the people is very important to make Imphal City a clean city.
