Imphal, December 16 2013:
With an aim to promote tourist spots of the State, Manipur Photography Society conducted a free medical camp cum musical concert at picturesque Irengkhul village yesterday.
More than 150 villagers were examined by a team of four doctors at the camp.
Medicines were also distributed free of cost.
Later, popular singers K Bobin, Chitra Pangangbam, Bidyalaxmi and Pushpa spread the message of good health and happy living through their popular songs in a musical concert held as part of the camp.
Irengkhul, which has a population of around 610 people and 104 households, is located 3 km away from Singda Dam.

According to the Village Authority, many students from the village are studying outside the State.
The waterfall which is located at a distance of around 4 km away from the village is exotic in nature and the villagers have started realising the importance of developing the area as a tourist spot.
As there is neither road nor proper pathways to reach the waterfall, the villagers have constructed some wooden bridges on the tracts leading to the waterfall.
Realising the importance of the waterfall, young members of Manipur Photography Society have been promoting the area through their photos and social networking.
Besides discussing the significance of the waterfall in making Irengkhul a tourist hub with the villagers, Manipur Photography Society (MPS) has visited the spot three times and two musical concerts have already been organised and lots of knowledge sharing on hospitality and benefits of becoming a tourist spot have been deliberated with the villagers.
Manipur Photography Society was formed in July 2013.Amateur and professional photography lovers are its active members.
It has been doing lots of promotion in the field of entertainment too partnering events like Red Carpet, Nongin Music Festival, Bobin Live on stage etc.
