The State unit of Shiv Sena has expressed concern over the construction of a guest house at Maharashtra for cancer patients of Manipur 'coming to halt' after some making some progress, asking all concerned to resume the work in the interest of the people.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Babupara today, president of Shiv Sena, Manipur M Tombi said that it was him who consulted the then Congress Government in Manipur in 2014-2015 to write a letter to the Maharashtra Government for construction of a Manipur Guest House on a land measuring 500 square metre at Kharga situated in between Old and New Mumbai.
Saying that the then Government had also paid a premium amounting to Rs 33.86 lakh after the request was approved by then Maharashtra Government, he added that Rs 5 crore was to be deposited to get the land for constructing Manipur Guest House.
M Tombi further stated the process for preparing the land document (patta) began after another letter was written to then Maharashtra Government but the project is stuck as some of the people's representatives opposed it.
Continuing that people of Manipur will be benefited greatly if the guest house is completed as it will provide a place for accommodation to cancer patients from Manipur going for treatment to Mumbai, M Tombi appealed to all representatives who opposed the project to withdraw their stand in the interest of the people.
He also said that he will handle the construction cost of the guest house as there is Shiv Sena Government at Maharashtra.
During the programme, M Tombi also felicitated some new members of Shiv Sena.
M Tombi continued that people who win the upcoming local body election on the party's ticket will take part in the administration of the State as an alliance partner of the ruling BJP.
On lifting prohibition, he said that the bold decision by the Cabinet was for the wellbeing of the masses.
