Imphal, May 16 2013:
The lady sweeper of SBI, MG Avenue, who was allegedly molested by a CRPF jawan on May 14 morning, has demanded befitting punitive action against the accused person.
Speaking to The Sangai Express at her residence in Imphal East district, the victim woman Sana Begum (name changed) conceded that the nightmarish experience she has had continues to torment her.
Insisting that the Government of Manipur take up suitable action to punish the accused personnel, she cautioned that any leniency on the matter might embolden security force personnel to commit similar heinous acts against Manipuri in the future.
Recounting that she raised an alarm after being accosted and man-handled by the CRPF jawan which led to her elder sister working in the adjacent room rushing to the spot, Sana maintained that the elder sibling confronted the accused person who tendered an apology and suggested that the incident be settled mutually.
Expressing that apologising after committing crime amounts to rubbing salt to wound, Sana also confided that on the advise of her male colleague not to attend work for some time till the matter is resolved, she is not sure on her future source of earning.
