The IGNTUSU-RCM ultimately resorted to many agitation by closing down the University so as to draw the attention of the authority concerned but when the talk between IGNTUSU and varsity authority failed twice, it launched a cease work strike and halted all academic and construction activities inside the University .
The KSO Sadar Hills, considering the plight of the student community of University, intervened and inspected the closed down University today while taking stock of the situation .
Speaking to media persons, president KSO Sadar Hills Thangminlen Kipgen said that the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University at Makhan, Kangpokpi district has witnessed a negative development with inadequate infrastructure like having only six faculty members for its 200 plus students in its eight years of existence .
Lacking financial autonomy, the discriminatory attitude of the administration towards the IGNTU-RCM meant that students need to travel a minimum of 25 kms a day to attend classes, he stated .
He further said that in spite of the numerous memorandum submitted to the Vice Chancellor TV Kattimani, the basic demands of the students remained neglected while the non-performance of the Campus Director and the Vice Chancellor has compelled the University students to deviate from their primary duties and engage themselves in administrative matters .
'It is our demand that the President of India should initiate the immediate termination of such non-performing and helpless employees and install tribal individuals who can stand up for the student rights and welfare of the people", Thangminlen Kipgen asserted .
KSO Sadar Hills stated that the demands and movement of the student Union will be considered a priority.
