Imphal, April 01 2016 :
RIMS authority was today forced to postpone interview for recruitment of fresh non-teaching staff for the hospital following disruption caused by protesters.
Members of Non-teaching Employees Welfare Association, RIMS launched a protest around 11 am against the hospital authority which put off the interview for posts like data entry operators, electricians, computer operator and lab technicians under pressure.
The association has demanded that regularization of all contractual employees should be done first besides giving promotion to all regular staff members before recruiting fresh employees.
Under the banner of the association, all non-teaching staff members thronged the RIMS Jubilee Hall where the interview was being arranged.
They locked it prompting the hospital authority to cancel the interview.
Association vice president W Ranbir Singh told media at the site that their demands should be taken priority over any fresh recruitment process.
"We've decided not to allow such things to take place before resolving our plight," he said.
RIMS currently has 2300 non-teaching staff employees out of this, 280 have been working at the hospital as contract employees for more than one decade.
