Imphal, September 13 2015:
In view of the annual Manipur Sangai Festival, renovation work of the Kangla moat has begun on a war footing.
Draining out of water from the southern section of Kangla moat to the northern section has begun since yesterday.
Altogether five/six water pumps are being used to drain out water.
It is reported that it has been quite a long time since Kangla moat was not renovated.
Even as some officials proposed to auction fishes caught from the southern section of the moat, the Chief Minister rejected the same proposal.
The Chief Minister said all the fishes caught alive from the southern section of the moat should be released in other water bodies located inside Kangla fort.
Plans are also afoot to rear different species of fish in the Kangla moat after it is fully renovated.
It is estimated that draining out of all the water from the southern section may take around 10 days.
