One succumbs to unknown disease

While 25 persons who went to hills for tree plantation are down with high fever, another person showing similar symptoms has succumbed to an unknown disease.
On August 29, some villagers of Nambol Naorem went for tree plantation together Forest Department officials to the nearby hills.
Not long after, the villagers started suffering from fever, Naorem Youth Sports and Cultural Organisation member A Sanayaima.
One Oinam Tharo who was also suffering similar type of fever succumbed to an unknown disease at Shija Hospital.
Her discharge document cited serub typhus as the cause of her death.
After the situation was informed to police who passed on the information to district administration, a medical team conducted a survey and collected reports.
A Ibema, O Thoiba, O Ichamba, M Ibobi and L Mala have been admitted in RIMS while 20 other persons suffering from fever have been hospitalised in Nambol CHC.
Some of them have been administered anti Japanese Encephalitis drugs driven by a suspicion they have been infected by the disease.
