NIA nabs co-accused in PREPAK leader murder case

National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a co-accused in the PREPAK chairman murder case, who is alleged to have sent weapon to the killers .
The co-accused has been identified as Sairom Rabichandra (36) s/o Ahanbi of Uripok Yambem Leikai, Imphal West .
He was arrested by a team of NIA Guwahati yesterday and produced before the Special Judge, NIA Court Manipur with a prayer for 10 days police custody remand .
After perusing the case record and hearing submission of the counsel representing NIA, the Court remanded the co-accused to seven days police custody .
According to a press release issued by NIA, Rabichandra was arrested in connection with a case registered under RC 03/2016/NIA Guwahati.
The investigation agency on November 29 of last year had registered a case under Section 302/448/34 of IPC, Section 25 (IC) of Arms Act and Section 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 with regard to the killing of PREPAK ex-chairman Ningombam Nabachandra @ Nongdrenkhomba and his driver Leishangthem Sanjit inside the quarter of 7 MR at Khabeisoi on the intervening night of June 21 and 22 of last year .
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the absconding accused in the case Urikhinbam Budhichandra @ Budhi @ Poirei, publicity secretary of PREPAK had sent the weapon to the killers through an unknown person .
After an extensive technical analysis, the unknown person was identified as S Rabichandra, the release said .
It may be mentioned that NIA had filed a chargesheet against five accused in the murder case.
