The Solidarity Monument erection programme cum annual general assembly of the Rongmei Naga Council was held at Longmai-3, Community hall, Noney district headquarters, today.
Leishemba Sanajaoba, MP (Rajya Sabha); Kenan Kamei, president RNCM; Amu Kamei, president RNPO; Lanjaigai Kamei, president ST Morcha BJP Manipur Pradesh and Gaidon Kamei, State executive member BJP Manipur Pradesh attended the event as presidium members.
Rev Sangaimei Gangmei, Chairman Mission 'Board RNBA also attended the event.
MP Leishemba Sanajaoba expressed his appreciation to the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur for organising the event.
The Rongmei community has always had a close relationship with the Meitei and any major occasion of the Meitei community cannot be successful without Kabui (Rongmei) elders, he added.
During the Seven Years Devastation, Maharaja Beigyachandra was given shelter at Longmai (Noney) village by the villagers.
He mentioned that the weakness of the former leaders of the State created the differences between the valley and the hills.
The BJP Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh has rebuilt the relationship between the valley and the hills, he added.
Leishemba Sanajaoba further stated that he will work more for the hills to build better relationships between the people.
He gave assurance for the construction of the Rongmei Cultural House and also donated Rs 10,000 to Rongmei Luh-Phuam.
Various Rongmei organizations, women, youth, students, Church and village leaders also attended the programme.
In the second session of the programme, ways to strengthen the various Rongmei organizations were discussed.
During the Annual General Assembly, Ramkung Pamei was elected president of RNCM for the term 2021-23 .
The other office-bearers elected are Kajaiga Dangmei (vice president); Thangonglung Ruangmei (vice president) Khonthuingam Panmei (general secretary) Pumdai Kamei (assistant secretary); Poujailung Gonmei (finance secretary).
The elected members of RNCM were administered oaths by Amu Kamei, president of RNPO.
