The Minister also called on the gathering to put in collective effort to make Manipur a self reliant State regarding foodstuff production.
Speaking at the occasion Dr Swapan Datta expressed hope that different varieties of paddy and fish found in Manipur have the potential to earn good profit through export business if these varieties are scientifically developed.
He also opined that the current production of 2.5 ton per hectare can be enhanced upto 4 ton per hactare if natural organic biomass, sunlight and water are properly harvested.
Thangso Baite while speaking at the occasion stressed on the need for frequent sharing of ideas and knowledge between farmers and agriculture scientists.
Though Manipur is suitable for agriculture activities, the State is still unable to reap the benefits due to lack of latest scientific knowledge and tools.
Earlier, the chief guest released 'Kishan Diary', CAU Research Newsletter (Vol 4 No1) and a book entitled, 'Book on Rice' at the function.
