Imphal, December 09 2009:
The district council teachers of six hill districts of the State are facing lots of inconvenience due to non-payment of salary since past many months.
A press release of All Manipur District Council Teachers' Association said that the State Government has not released the salary for around 3888 district council teachers of these six districts since June 2009 due to non-competition of MGEL.
The association questioned why the incompetency and inefficiency of the concerned authority should harass and exploit the innocent teachers who have been rendering their service sincerely.
Maintaining that other State Government employees have been enjoying 14 percent DA from January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2005, the association expressed reservations for not providing the same to the district council teachers.
Saying that the association had submitted a memorandum to the concerned department highlighting their grievances, the association asserted that the State Government has not initiated any action in this regard so far.
The association also warned that it would take up various forms of agitation if their demands are not fulfilled.
