Colleges, DMU raise intake capacity

Taking due note of the reluctance of many students to go outside the State for higher studies on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, intake capacities of Government colleges, private colleges and DM University have been raised.
Parents and elders of families are also reluctant to send their children and wards outside the State.
The combined intake capacity of the 45 Government and private colleges of the State for BA, BSc, BCom/BBA and LLB courses has been raised to 43,209, informed a source.
Combined intake capacity of colleges affiliated to DM University namely; DM College of Arts, DM College of Science, DM College of Commerce and GP Women's College has also been raised by 320 .
The intake capacity of DM College of Arts has been raised from 1000 to 1100, DM College of Science from 750 to 850 and DM College of Commerce has raised BCom seats from 370 to 400 and BBA seats from 50 to 70 .
GP Women's College has increased its intake capacity (Science stream) from 680 to 750, informed the source.
Meanwhile, Manipur University has been receiving a far greater number of applications for PG courses this academic year.
So far, 35 departments of the university have received 10,295 applications for PG courses.
As such, PG seats in Forestry, Environment Science, Library Science, Geography, Botany, Zoology and Manipuri would be raised and there would be two sections each in Manipuri, Political Science, Zoology and Botany departments, added the source.
