Imphal, August 09 2011:
Aggrieved over the failure of the State Government to consider the 11-point charter of demands of the employees, workers, teachers and pensioners even after several rounds of meeting and submission of memoranda/reminders, Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) have decided to go ahead with an indefinite cease work strike with effect from tomorrow.
Announcing this in a statement, information and publicity secretary of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO L Priyobratta said that employees and workers are not in favour of cease work strike as it would affect not only the economy of the State but would also cause inconveniences to the public but they have been compelled as the Government has failed to keep its commitment despite several assurances given in the past.
Alongside the cease work strike, pensioners who have been deprived of various benefits by the Government would also launch a relay hunger strike at Singjamei Chingamakhong from tomorrow, Priyobratta informed.
Issuing a list of instructions on what all the employees both in the hills and the valley ought to do during the cease work strike, Priyobratta said that they should come to attend their respective offices every day in time and leave after the office hours.
They should put their signatures on the attendance registers while coming to the offices as well as at the time of leaving.
Moreover, the striking employees should not accept order from their higher up officials who may force them to perform office work and not listen to the rumours.
