Education committee convenes meeting

The State Level Coordination Committee on Education held a meeting on the proposed New Education Policy at the office chamber of Education and CAF & PD Minister M Okendro at Babupara on April 4 .
The meeting resolved to explore the possibility of having a separate chapter in the proposed National Education Policy for the North East region through consultation with Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Sikkim.
As demanded during the National consultative meeting with all the State Education Ministers and Secretaries on the New Education Policy at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on March 21, the meeting resolved to appoint Nodal officers for the higher education and school education and submit the appointment details to the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
Director of University and Higher Education and Director of Education (s) shall be nominated as the Nodal Officers for Higher Education and School Education respectively.
It was decided in the meeting that a Committee of Directors of all the Education Departments consisting of Director Education (u), Director Education (s), Director SCERT, Controller of Technician Education, Additional Director (adult education), Director of Language, Development, Chairman and Secretary of BOSEM, COHSEM, nominees of Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, Central Agricultural University, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University and nominee of Director/NIT Manipur be constituted and chaired by the Director of University & Higher Education to coordinate on issues with regard to the New Education Policy and bring out a Draft Policy Document with specific reference to Manipur for submission and inclusion in the proposed New Education Policy after a finalisation of the same by the State Level Coordination Committee on Education.
Comments and opinions from educationists, academicians, teachers, students, parents, civil societies/NGO's, teachers and student associations, Government aided and private institutions will be welcomed and may be sent to [email protected] or [email protected] on or before April 30 .
The meeting deliberated on the requirements for formation of a State Advisory Board of Education (SABE) in the line of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) to be a policy making body with members consisting of administrators, educationists, subject experts.
The meeting also discussed issues of the State Level Authority on Curriculum which were already given to SCERT as demanded by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
It further resolved to strengthen the SCERT Department.
