Awards will be given to successful Seri farmers: Awangbow Newmai

Continuing his survey on the progress of the Seri farms in the State, Sericulture Minister Awangbow Newmai visited the Seri farms located at Kairembikhok, Tekcham, Kuraopokpi, Heirok, Uyal and Athokpam in Thoubal district, today.
Speaking to the media, Minister Newmai said that he was satisfied to see the hard work of the Seri beneficiaries (farmers) today.
He stated that to help the people generate income, under the integrated Sericulture Project (ISDP ), the beneficiaries are provided assistance for the construction of silk worm rearing house to produce cocoons, rearing appliances and planting materials which includes training facilities in the field of silk worm rearing and silk worm food plantation mulberry.
If each and every beneficiary under the Sericulture and other departments work hard to generate income, then the problem of unemployment will be solved to some extent.
The Seri project will provide employment for the present and future generations, he added.
Minister Awangbow Newmai further stated that the department will also give awards to the best Seri farmers.
The Minister was accompanied by P Brojen MLA Wangjing Tentha, Sericulture Director S Kunjakishore Singh and Ch Harendra Singh, Deputy Director.
