26th Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Day observed

The 26th Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Day was observed today at Ibotombi Memorial Complex at Heirok Part-II Organised by Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Charitable Trust, Heirok.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was held as a low key affair with only the family members and close relatives attending the event.
The event started with family members paying floral tributes to the memorial stone of late Moirangthem Ibotombi.
Later on pensions were distributed to the elderly people and widows of Heirok Assembly Constituency by going to their respective homes and polling stations who are deprived of the pension scheme under the State Government.
Speaking on the occasion, Moirangthem Okendra, president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and of the Trust said pension will be distributed to around 1602 needy and poor people, widows and elderly people of the Constituency who are deprived of the State Government's pension scheme till December 12 by adhering to the SOPs of COVID-19 .
He further stated the dream of the Trust striving for a peaceful Manipur free from all the violent forces has been achieved to a certain level and thanked the people of Heirok A/C for their major contributions in such a venture since the last 26 years.
An amount of Rs 2,400 for twelve months are being handed to each individual.
The pension is given from the contributions of the well wishers.
Apart from distributing pension, the Trust has been giving Rs 10,000 to the cancer patients of the Constituency and have handed the amount to more than 200 patients.
The Trust has also been helping the medical students of Heirok A/C with Rs 50,000 each, he added.
