After representatives of the State government conveyed to the Apunba Lup to resolve agitation in the aftermath of the July 23 incident as the court's directive, the chief minister himself will talk to Apunba Lub tomorrow for a final solution to the vexed issue, a per a government source.
The source added that the mediation of Senior citizens with renewed vigour to continue the talks with the Apunba Lup, has led to this step.
The government after retracing some steps with the chief minister heading will be holding talks with the Apunba Lup tomorrow at 9 am.
It is learned from a reliable source that Apunba Lup will not be putting up two demands which relate to chief minister's resignation or relinquishing the home department and those pertaining to DGP Joykumar, out of the original 13 in the talks as the government are dead against it.
But it is too early to say whether all the other demands will be met in full by the government as they will be again discussed in tomorrow's meeting.
The source is confident that the government team headed by chief minister, O Ibobi, Th Devendra and other ministers in their talks with the Apunba Lup would be able to resolve the four-month long agitation in the wake of the July 23 incident.
In the interest of students who have not been able to attend classes four the last four months, the government will try to meet the demands of the Apunba Lup as far as possible.
But who all are going to represent the Apunba Lup was not clear till late in the evening today.
The demands of the Apunba Lup are: 1.Either the CM resigns or relinquishes the home potfolio.
.2Transfer of DGP.
.3Suspend SP Imphal West or Transfer him out of the state.
.4Suspend Adl SP Imphal West.
.5Take up legal action against the suspended police officers.
.6Enlarge the one-man Agrawal Enquiry Commission to a three-man enquiry commission and to modify the terms of reference of the present enquiry commission.
.7Judicial enquiry commission and CBI investigation to be conducted simultaneously.
.8Set a definite dateline for the ongoing enquiry commission and that the government should act on the report within 15 days of its submission.
.9A written assurance from the government not to let any fake encounter take place 10.Release all those who were arrested in connection with the agitation as a consequence of July 23 incident, unconditionally.
11.Compensation to all those injured in the agitation in the aftermath of the July 23 incident.
12.Return all the material confisticated from all the organizations of the Apunba Lup and 13.Take up steps for the security and protection of all the witnesses of the July 23 incident so that they can dispose before the commission without fear.
