Hiroshima Day observed

Marking the 66th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Manipur observed 66th Hiroshima Day, 2011 at Manipur Press Club here today.
At the occasion, prizes for the painting competition for students organised by the Association on July 31 in connection with the observance were also distributed among the winners.
It is said that the first three top paintings would be send to Hiroshima for exhibition.
Speaking as chief guest of the observance, MLA RK Anand noted that the threat of war never end and we never know when we will be able to stop war.
So, we need to organise such observance to spread the message of futility of war.
Instead of war, we need education and development and change the mindset of the people.
Retired headmaster Kh Nimaicharan Singh and president of Indo-Japan Friendship Association N Ibomcha Singh were also present and spoke at the observance.
The full text of Hiroshima Peace Declaration issued by Mayor of Hiroshima Kazumi Matsui was also read out at the occasion.
