Three UG cadres arrested

Based on a reliable information, a combined team of Imphal East district police commando and 45 AR conducted search operation in and around Khurai Lamlong Bazar and arrested one active member of UNLF, identified as Sorokhaibam Chingkhei Singh alias Aoupa alias Haokip (24) s/o S Milankumar Singh of Kongpal Chingambam Leikai in front of Friendship Educational School, Tinsid Road, Khurai yesterday at around 11 am.
Investigation revealed that he has extorted Rs 15000 from the Pradhan of Khurai Chingambam Leikai GP in March, 2016 and had also extorted huge amounts of money from the general public.
A case has been registered at Porompat PS and investigation is going on, said a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept.
Further, on May 4, based on a reliable information about the presence of cadres of PLA/RPF organisation in and around North AOC area, a team of Imphal West police under the supervision of Th Vikramjit, Additional SP (Operations) and led by Inspector P Sanjoy, OC of Imphal West Commando rushed to North AOC at around 4 pm and detained one person who was seen moving in a suspicious manner in front of Tampha Hotel.
During the verification, he identified himself as Yengkhom Bhogen Singh (45) s/o Y Hemen Singh of Lilong Chajing Awang Leikai and revealed that he is a cadre of PLA/RPF, working under the command of S/S captain Emos.
According to a source, on his revelation, another active member of PLA/RPF namely Hanjabam Shamungou Sharma (43) s/o (L) H Ibochouba Sharma of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai was arrested from his residence at around 5.30 pm and on his disclosure, one pistol along with magazine and four live rounds of 9mm ammunition was recovered.
Investigation revealed that both of them had extorted huge amounts of money from the government officials, businessmen, transport agencies and travel agencies in North AOC area.
The two arrested cadres of PLA/RPF have been handed over to Imphal Police Station along with the seized materials for necessary legal action, the source said.
