Missing man found dead

The lifeless body of a 55-year-old man who went missing since October 30, 2021 was recovered today near Thingkangphai cemetery leading the police to register a case of unnatural death and the district administration assigning the Executive Magistrate of Kangvai to conduct a Magisterial enquiry.
A farmer by profession, Liankholam (55) son of (Late) Zamthang of Leizangphai village, Thanlon sub division had reportedly left the village for Churachandpur town on October 27 with sizable quantities of bananas to be sold in the market.
He had lodged with one of his sons at Thingkhangphai village and was last seen on October 30 when he reportedly left goods he intended to take home at Lalvom Bazar.
As his whereabouts remained unknown his family lodged a missing report with the police and mounted a hunt along with several CSOs.
Till late evening yesterday his mobile phone was reportedly ringing and the search team with the help of the police began tracing the location but was found switched-off after some time crippling the tracing exercise.
The search resumed early today and eventually his lifeless body was found near Thingkangphai cemetery.
His mobile phone and torch light, sources said, was intact in his possession but the cash he is believed to have carried from the proceeds of his bananas were found missing.
As the cause of his death could not be immediately ascertained, the police have registered a case of unnatural death under section 174 CrPc.
