Imphal, August 02 2016:
Soibam Anita, grandmother of the newly born infant who died in Thoubal district hospital, has strongly condemned the statement of Dr Subhash.
Recounting the incident, Soibam Anita said that her daughter-in law was admitted to the district hospital on July 30 at 9.30 am and gave birth to a boy on the same day at 4.20 pm.
Soibam Anita said that she requested Dr Subhash to examine the baby after the baby seemed to have difficulty in breathing.
"When requested to attend to the baby, Dr Subhash said that the baby must be exhausted and there is nothing to worry about.
The doctor handed over the baby to the mother.
However, seeing the baby's condition, I requested Dr Subhash to examine the baby.
However, he left without saying anything," she added.
The baby died some time after the doctor left.
Anita urged the doctors and nurses of the hospital not to repeat such inhumane act.
"We asked Dr Subhash to meet but he told us to meet him in the police station.
The baby was delivered in the hospital, not in the police station.
We want to personally him in order to resolve the issue," Anita said.
