The gathering paid floral tributes to the photographs of the three students.
Thiyam Naresh while speaking at the function said that AMSU has been observing Emancipation Day remembering the sacrifices made by these students for the cause of the student communities' rights.
Saying that rights and responsibilities always go together, Naresh said that people must translate their responsibilities into action even if they get their entitled rights.
Rights would not serve any purpose if people forget their responsibilities, he added.
Saying that rights could not be demanded at somebody's behest, Naresh said that students must understand the co-relation existed among people, students and Government.
The sense of patriotism would automatically come in students' mind once they understand their language, culture and tradition properly, he added.
In his speech, Salam Kumar said that it is the responsibility of the head of the institutions to lead the students in the right path.
They sometimes advise the students not to stage strikes even if the school has many inadequacies thinking that it would hamper their education.
The Government must look into the needs of the students in order to avoid agitation from students, he added.
Khelen's mother Urikhinbam Pakchao and Sarat's father Kumam Ibomcha were felicitated with shawls at the function.
