Ccpur, October 26 2018:
The stand-off over implementation of BADP between the State government and the border area chiefs lingers as the Writ Petition filed by the chief is due to be heard on November 2 and the government issuing fresh notice for geo-tagging pre-worksite of all approved works.
Taking note of the government's new order, the Kuki Chiefs Association, Churachandpur and the Zomi Chief Association held a joint meeting early today to discuss the matter.
They have also formed All Manipur Border Area Development Association Churachandpur and Pherzawl branch to take up the matter in the two districts.
The Chiefs during their meeting has maintained that the government order to geo-tag the pre-work sites comes against the instruction of their advocate to not proceed with any step which may be adverse to the Village Authorities.
They have therefore resolved to oppose the geo-tagging exercise and the provision that requires them to donate land through gift deed for implementation of BADP in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.
The chiefs also unanimously resolved to condemn and stand by the chief of Lungthul (L) Model Village who was intimidated for opposing the attempt to geo-tag pre-work site in his village.
They have also agreed to take whatever steps necessary to safeguard their land and interest if their appeal to government to implement the developmental scheme without any added rider is not heeded to .
