Imphal, March 23 2018:
The indefinite cease work strike launched since yesterday by State Government employees under the aegis of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has been continuing without any break so far.
The first day of the cease work strike saw massive support by employees of different departments.
Staff of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC), Transport Department and Medical Directorate joined the cease work strike today.
However, employees of Medical Directorate engaged in hospitals did their works as usual.
Whereas representatives of the JAC went to the Moirangkhom DIPR complex and checked whether DIPR staff were supporting the strike, the routine press conferences organised by DIPR for heads of departments were cancelled today too for the second day.
Nonetheless, a notification issued by the DIPR Joint Director said that the routine press conferences have been postponed till March 31 due to 'technical difficulties'.
The JAC launched the cease work strike since yesterday demanding implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission with respect to State Government employees and pensioners.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) today submitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister saying that they too would launch an indefinite cease work strike from April 2 if the demand for implementation of the 7th Pay is not fulfilled at the earliest.
The intimation said that employees of essential services and the Civil Secretariat would join the cease work strike.
