Teachers' Award handed over

The national Teachers' Award carrying cash prize of Rs 30,000, medal and certificate has been formally handed over to Koijam Tolendro Singh, a science graduate teacher of Praja High School.
The award hand-over programme was held today at the Khoyathong office of Zonal Education Officer, Imphal West Zone-I with Additional Director of Education (S/V) W Chandrakumar Singh, Extra Edge School Principal L Raghumani Singh and All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association general secretary Ch Shanta Kumar Singh gracing the event as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, W Chandrakumar said inspite of Tolendro Singh supposed to receive the national award from the President of India in New Delhi on September 5, 2013 belated conveyance resulted in the awardee missing the function.
On behalf of the Directorate he also conveyed regret for Tolendro not getting relevant information in time about his selection for the prestigious award.
According to ZEO/Zone-I Gopimohon 16 schools in Imphal West district are functioning without headmasters at present.
Highlighting that inability to ensure basic infrastructure and appoint heads of institution would not only derail the education system in the State but also draw criticism from various circles, he called upon the Directorate authorities to fill the vacant post of headmasters at the earliest possible.
