Imphal, May 20 2017:
A public meeting was held at Takhellambam Leikai Youth Club ground today to discuss the effects of the peace talk between the Indian Government and the NSCN (IM) and the Framework Agreement signed between the outift and the Government of India in 2015 .
Speaking at the meeting organised by Takhellambam Leikai Youth Club, UCM vice-president Sunil Karam warned the Indian Government against igniting tension among the neighbouring States as a result of its ongoing peace talk with NSCN (IM) .
He urged both parties to continue the peace talk but warned against creating unrest among the various neighbouring States or reaching an agreement which may harm the interests of other communities and asked the matter to be confined only to Nagaland State.
The demand for the integration of all Naga inhabited region affects not only Manipur but also huge parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

He pointed out that the peace talk between the Indian Government and the NSCN (IM) have always affected the peace and tranquillity of the State adding that the June 18, 2001 incident was a result of the inclusion of the words 'without territorial limit' in the agreement.
The words were seemingly removed after the people of Manipur revolted but the presence of designated NSCN (IM) camps in Manipur and the constant cases of extortion and harassment by their cadres prove that it is still in force, he claimed.
Sunil Karam urged the people of the State to stay alert against the double standard of the Government of India adding that the people should stand against any external forces trying to harm the integrity of the State.
Speaking at the meeting, AMSU president Manjit Sarangthem said that the urgency of the Indian Government in dealing with the NSCN (IM) clearly show its motive to break up the State.
CADA president Yumnam Ratan was also present at the meeting.
