Keirak Wabagai Development Committee (KWDC) has complained that beneficiaries are not getting the entitled quantity of items as mentioned in the PDS guidelines at Wabagai Keirak area.
In a press conference held at Keishamthong Top Leirak, secretary of the committee, Advocate P Prem Sharma said, the ration card holders do not get the actual quantity of PDS rice which is entitled.
Saying that a BPL card holder is entitled to get 35 kg of rice at Rs 6 per kg every month, the secretary said that they get only 15 kg of rice at Rs 12 per kg.
According to the guideline laid down by the Government, the price of AAY rice is fixed at Rs 3.37 per kg while the price of Above Poverty Line (APL) rice is Rs 8.88 per kg.
Saying that he is also an APL beneficiary, the secretary added that APL rice have never been distributed at the area.
When the matter was complained at the District Supply Officer, it was said that the stock had been delivered, he added.
Although there is a Government directive under PDS Control 2011 to maintain a stock register by the suppliers, he said that it is not maintained in most of the cases.
