Special drive for left out voters from July 1

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to launch a special drive from July 1 for maximization of registration of eligible electors and removal/ correction of errors from the electoral rolls.
This was stated by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vivek Kumar Dewangan to media persons during a press conference held at the Conference Hall of Old Secretariat today.
He said that in tune with the theme 'No voters to be left behind', the ECI has decided to utilize the period of continuous updation for maximization of enrolment of young electors particularly in the 18 to 21 age group by launching a special drive in all States.
The special drive will be completed by July 31.Different modes of form (Form 6) submission would be made available to electors such as EROs office, by post, online submission at National Voters Service Portal (NVSP) and at Common Service Centres (CSCs) .
Special campaigns will be organised on July 8 and July 22 where camps would be held in each polling station where BLOs will sit with adequate number of Form.
Special camps will also be conducted in all Government and private educational institutions/vocational training institutes on at least any two different days between July 1 and July 31 .
During the special drive, removal of names of dead electors will also be taken up, informed the CEO.
Citing 2011 census report, the CEO informed that around 13,355 people who would be in the age group of 18-19 this year have not been enrolled in electoral roll.
Moreover, 67,183 citizens who are in the age group of 20-21 have been left out from enlistment in the electoral roll, VK Dewangan said.
For the Presidential election scheduled on July 17, the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary has been nominated as an Assistant Returning Officer by the Election Commission of India.
Intending candidates may submit nomination papers at the Assembly's Committee Room on or before June 28 .
The State's four MPs and 60 MLAs would cast their votes between 10 am and 5 pm of July 17.Votes would be counted on July 20, Dewangan added.
The press conference was also attended by Joint CEO K Bono Singh and other officials.
