Training programme concludes on optimistic note

The State level training programme of field investigators on documentation of local health traditions concluded at Manipur University today.
The programme was organised by Centre of Advanced Studies in Life Science of Manipur University in collaboration with Centre for Local Health Traditions, Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine, FRLHT, Bangalore.
Chief Conservator of Forest and CEO of Manipur Biodiversity Board, RK Srivastava, IAIM-FRLHT Bangalore Assistant Director Dr Abdul Kareem, Researcher of North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine, Pasighat, Hemen Hazarika, Apunba Manipur Maiba Maibi Phurup president N Tombi Raj and former HOD of MU Life Sciences Department, R Varatharajan were chief guest, guests of honour and president of the function respectively.
RK Srivastava while speaking at the function said that quacks or healers are playing significant role in health care.
As they recognise almost all the plants with medicinal values, their contribution to the society is important.
Thirty quacks took part in the training programme sponsored by NEIFM, Department of AYUSH of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
