Old bomb found at New Keiphundai, disposed safely

An unexploded bomb found at a forest located in New Keiphundai of Tousem subdivision, Tamenglong on January 30, this year, by a group of farmers, was disposed at a safe site yesterday evening by a bomb expert team.
According to information received from the spot, villagers of the area found the bomb while going to the forest to till their field on January 30, this year, and informed the police and Assam Rifles about their findings.
Soon after, a team of police and AR rushed, to the scene and cordoned off the area to avoid any unwanted casualties from happening.
After the arrival of the bomb expert team, which was called by Tosemk Police OC, O Dorendro Singh, the bomb was disposed at a safe site.
Speaking to media persons, one of the villagers alleged that the bomb must have been dropped by Indian Para Military Forces while attempting to drive out the UGs from the area in 2005 .
He then appealed the concerned authorities to properly search the area to find out if there are more such bombs so as to clear the apprehension of the villagers.
It may be mentioned that two girls were killed recently when an unnoticed bomb exploded at Khouphum village.
