Three colleges at Hengbung in Kpi to start academic session from July

The three colleges - College of Horticulture, Community Science (Home Science) and Biotechnology at Hengbung village in Kangpokpi District recently granted affiliation to Manipur University were projected to be the finest colleges of Horticulture, Home Science and Biotechnology in the North Eastern States.
The colleges were brought by the FEEDS Group of Institution.
The academic session is likely to kick off in the first week of July this summer in an ideally Hill station look alike campus of FEEDS amidst a scholarly, cool and green environment where various other important institutions including the first-ever Orchid Research & Development Centre and Ethno Medicinal Research Centre in the State are located.
FEEDS is also the host institute of KVK Hengbung and the first to bring KVK in the hill districts of the State.
The first technical and professional colleges in the entire hill districts of Manipur and also the first Honours College of Horticulture, Community Science (HSc) and Biotechnology will have an intake of 30 students each in BSc Horticulture and Community Science (HSc) while it has 25 students intake capacity in BSc Biotechnology in its inaugural academic session.
First come first serve basis (with qualifying marks of minimum 55%) will be applied for admission in the three colleges while Schedule Tribe students will be given a larger share of seats as the colleges have been established mainly to provides opportunity for the poor but aspiring young tribals as well as others from the North Eastern Region, India and the other countries.
Haokholet Kipgen, president FEEDS Group of Institution (FGI) said: "The colleges have highly qualified teaching faculty, many of whom have National and international recognition for their teaching, research and publications.
"Admission into technical and professional colleges of Horticulture, Community Science and Biotechnology in other places is not easy and many aspiring youths from the State and NE Region could not get the admission.
Many of our aspiring youths from the State and NE Region have to bear the brunt of quota system admission and an unaffordable prices," he said.
Aspiring students can now embark on their future journey from these colleges by availing holistic development, meaningful and value-based education, he said.
The clean and abundance of undulating water, the fresh air from the lush green tall trees and the secure and separate home away from home' hostel for boys and girls, well-equipped laboratories and classrooms would abreast the students with changing academic and environments.
