Imphal, February 14 2012:
Expressing that prescribed norms for conduct of HSSLC examinations would stand violated in case students of a particular institution appear the said examination at their own school, Kangleipak Students' Association today declared that it would not remain idle if relevant measures is not initiated to check leakage of question paper.
Speaking to newspersons at its Tiddim Line office, KSA's Thoubal District Council president Takhellambam Rabi said for Thoubal district students appearing the forthcoming class XII examination arrangement is being made to accommodate them in three exam centres clustered as private centre A (Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School), B (Waikhom Mani Girls' College) and C (Universal College, Yairipok) .
Highlighting that as per Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur rules, if an examination centre that exceeds 500 candidates the excess number of student-candidates should be relocated to the nearest institution.
In the case of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School centre the number of candidates who would be sitting for the said examination is 784, Rabi claimed while adding that preparation is being made for a total of 506 candidates appear the exam at Somendrosana Rural Higher Secondary School as the alternative sub-centre.
Apart from the 506 candidates students of the same institution which has been designated as the exam centre, there is strong possibility of leakage of question papers for the question papers would first be opened and distributed to candidates at the original/official centre (Chaoyaima HSS) before the same is handed over to candidates appearing at the Somendrosana sub-centre, which is located about 1.5 kilometre from the former venue, opined president of the KSA unit.
Explaining that leakage of question papers during carriage from Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School to Somendrosana Rural Higher Secondary School through the lengthy route cannot be ruled out, Rabi also contended that inspite of the matter pointed out to the school authorities concerned there is no sign of corrective measures till date.
Further maintaining that the previous HSSLC examination was also conducted under similar ambiguous arrangement at the said centre, the student body asserted that in case of leakage of question paper it would launch agitation for suitable action against the authority concerned.
