Kangpokpi Youth Union celebrates Golden Jubilee

After 50 years of "Service Before Self", Kangpokpi Youth Union, formerly Kangpokpi Youth Club celebrated its Golden Jubilee momentously at Brig M Thomas ground in Kangpokpi District Headquarters under the theme, "Honoring the glorious past, celebrating the golden present, and envisioning the promising future" .
It was attended by Outer Manipur (Lok Sabha) MP, Dr Lorho S Pfoze; Saitu AC MLA, Haokholet Kipgen; Saikul AC MLA, Kimneo Haokip Hangshing; and Textiles Minister Nemcha Kipgen as presidium members.
During the event, a 13 feet long monolith donated by Jangboi Kipgen was jubilantly unveiled by KYC/KYU founding president, Haokholal Hangshing after Dr Lorho S Pfoze hoisted the KYU and Golden Jubilee flag.
The monolith was dedicated by Rev K Hangshing, chairman, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship.

A traditional gong called Dahpi was also beaten fifty times by the dignitaries, committee chairman and KYU president to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of KYU.
To honor and pay tribute to the departed leaders of KYC/KYU, a condolence service led by KYU general secretary, Henry Guite was also held wherein Rev J Lunkim, pastor KCC invoked a condolence and blessing prayer for the deceased leaders' families and the KYU.
Dr Lorho S Pfoze also released a 190 pages souvenir to commemorate the historic occasion.
Addressing the gathering, KYU president, Haolet Khongsai shared that true to its calling, the KYU under its motto, "Service Before Self" saved thousands of lives during the COVID-19 pandemic in Kangpokpi town and surrounding areas by selflessly & fearlessly working in coordination with the district administration, district police, medical department, and other frontline workers.
He also pointed out that the KYU is instrumental in promoting peace, harmony, and love among the diverse communities in the State by extending wholehearted love and support to anyone at times of difficulties in any adversities such as bandhs, blockades, accidents, etc.
KYU Golden Jubilee Celebration Core Committee chairman, Seikhojam Kipgen also spoke on the occasion. A cultural extravaganza, appreciation, presentations, celebration, and a Jubilee song sung by 140 member Jubilee Choir marked the noon session.
The Golden Jubilee song, "Golden Jubilee, Golden Jubilee, KYU Golden Jubilee" was composed by Pastor Paotingen Vaiphei.
The night session was graced by Y Khemchand Singh, MAHUD Minister; Col Punit Atwal, SM 22 Assam Rifles and former Minister Thangminlen Kipgen as presidium members.
The session was marked by Mr & Miss Kanggui's contest and various entertainment programmes.
