Racial attacks flayed, MCPCR writes to Kejriwal

Several organisations of the State have expressed concern over the alleged racial discrimination against people of the NE in Delhi and other parts of India in the light of alleged recent racial attacks faced by the people of Northeast India particularly Manipur in the National Capital and other metro cities of India.
The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Imphal has urged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take necessary steps to prosecute the arrested accused in the rape case of a 14-year old girl from the State in Delhi on Feb 7 .
Meanwhile, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) said it would highlight the matter to the Union Home Minister soon.
The MCPCR in a representation signed by its Chairperson A Nabachandra Singh urged the Delhi CM to initiate measures to ensure stoppage of such incidents to girls staying in Delhi particularly from NE States in future.
ATSUM president Muan Tombing while addressing media persons at the students' body office at Nagaram strongly denounced the racial discrimination against the people of the North East particularly Manipur in the National Capital and other places of India.
He said the students' body is concerned with the death of Nido Tania of Arunachal Pradesh, rape of a minor girl from the State and the assault of two youths from the State.
Tombing said the students' union would soon write to the Union Home Minister and Delhi Chief Minister in this regard while also adding that the students' body would launch agitation against racial discrimination in collaboration with like-minded students' bodies.
At the same time, the Manipur State Commission for Women has condemned the violence perpetrated by people of mainland against innocent persons residing in New Delhi and other parts of the country.
A statement issued by the FO (i/c) of MSCW urged the Central Govt to take initiative to curb violence towards people of NE region.
