Three-day training programme kick starts

A three-day farmers' training programme organised by Manipur Milk Producers Co-operative Union Ltd has kick started at the campus of the union today.
Co-Operation Minister AK Mirabai, Co-operation Commissioner K Moses Chalai and Co-operative Union Chairman Dhananjoy Thingomcha graced the opening function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, AK Mirabai said that Manipur would become a developed State only when co-operative movement is strengthened.
She added that dairy farming must be promoted in order to bring a change in the State.
Although milk production is getting enhanced with the setting up of Manipur Milk Producers Co-operative Union, there is still need for setting up of other unions in order to bring self sufficient in milk production, AK Mirabai said.
She said that the Government is putting in effort to install modern equipment at the existing dairy plant and impart training on scientific know-how to the dairy workers.
The Minister said that foreign breeds of cattle have been brought in to the State to enhance milk production.
Apart from giving lecture on milk production by various experts, the trainees were also given practical training at CAU, Iroisemba.
