Imphal, December 08 2016:
Social worker MI Khan has said that the different communities of Keirao A/C should unite and set an example in order to nullify the economic blockade and retaliatory counter blockade currently plaguing the State bringing misery to the people of diverse ethnicity.
Khan made the statement at an Advent Christmas function held at his Keirao Makting residence which saw the participation of many tribal leaders, the village chairman and many people from various communities.
He said, "Keirao A/C can be called a mini-Manipur because of its diverse population consisting of Meitei, Meitei-Pangal, Chiru, Kabui, Maring and Tangkhul" .
He clarified that the function was organised to preserve the inter-community relation among the various ethnic groups which has coexisted since ancient times and not as a political agenda.
"Let's promote unity among the various communities.
Let's stop being selfish for only ones' own ethnicity.
Manipur is not for only one community or the other.
Let us make it known to the people how different communities in Keirao A/C are celebrating this festival as one", he added.
He urged the people to shed hatred for one another and work together as one in order to make a better and more developed Manipur.
